Overview
Canada's points-based permanent residence system. You create a profile, get a Comprehensive Ranking System score, and wait for an invitation. Canada has cut its overall PR targets, so general draw cut-offs are competitive and category-based draws — healthcare, trades, STEM, transport, agriculture and French speakers — are often the realistic path. For Americans the strongest play is usually sequential: take a CUSMA permit first, work a year in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation, then apply through the Canadian Experience Class with that experience and the CRS points it earns. French ability is the other major lever, since French-language draws run at markedly lower cut-offs.
