The CPLP advantage narrowed sharply under the 2025–2026 reforms: Brazilian citizenship alone no longer unlocks a simplified residence route. You now need the consular residence visa matching your purpose (work, study, D7, D8) before AIMA issues the CPLP-format permit. What remains: reduced fees for Brazilians (€58.10 online renewals) and citizenship eligibility after 7 years of legal residence instead of 10.
